Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a studio?

Yes. Portraiture is our specialty. Come into our Astoria studio and let us make you look fabulous. Makeup & hair services can be provided as well. For location, please see the Contact page.

Do you travel?

Yes, we love to travel, especially to shoot. Please do not hesitate to ask. Travel is included in all pricing within the New York City and Nassau County areas.

Do I get a digital copy of the photos?

Yes. We understand that most people want a digital copy of their photos in this day and age. Most of our sessions come with a download of full resolution JPG files, as well as resized copies for easy sharing and posting to websites and social networks. You will also have the rights to print them if agreed upon. We do not release RAW files or “digital negatives” however, and our Studio reserves the right to release only selected images from each shoot, not necessarily every frame taken.

Do we meet before the wedding?

Yes. As people photographers, We prefer to meet with you well in advance so we can fully understand your needs and expectations. Solid face-to-face communication is the backbone of our philosophy and we’d like to think of every new client as a new friend. We believe the forming of a great relationship also helps break the ice for our first project together. During a wedding or family portrait session, we like to think of ourselves as part of your family. We typically also like to give the venue a thorough scouting to gather ideas and assess any challenges associated with lighting, positioning or logistics on the day of the event.

Can you make me look younger?

Yes! We offer a wide array of retouching services that help you look your best during your portrait session or special day. We can smooth skin, make people appear thinner, remove blemishes, etc. Some of this is accomplished with specific lighting techniques and some in post production. Cosmetic retouching does take time and is not always included in the price of your shoot, however. Take a look at our pricing page for details.

Do you make prints? What about albums?

Absolutely, and Yes. Enlargement prints are included with some of our wedding packages and range in sizes. You’ll be able to print directly from your gallery on our site. We also offer framing options for a complete one-stop shop solution. Our print shop produces premium quality reproductions and lightning fast turnaround. We are constantly keeping up with industry standards and innovations in the album department to bring you the latest and greatest, as well as budget conscious options. For more information on albums and prints, please contact us for a personalized quote and brochure.

Do you shoot digital or film?

We’ve been in the business a long time. Although we started out on film, today’s market demands the convenience, versatility and lightning-fast turnaround that the digital medium provides. We shoot exclusively in digital, but we can also process your photos to take on the desired characteristics of film that many photography enthusiasts crave.

When do I get my pictures?

In general, within one week of a portrait session, two weeks of a wedding, one to two weeks for engagement photography or large formal events. Your photos will be viewable in a private gallery on our site. We like to work methodically and efficiently to get your pictures delivered as quickly as possible. Every shot taken after a session undergoes a rigorous examination and processing technique (our secret sauce, if you will) to get you the best possible images.

What kind of camera do you use?

If you must know, we primarily use professional-grade Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras for stills and motion pictures, accompanied by big, fancy, heavy lenses. This ain’t your uncle’s pocket camera. However, we’ll be the first to tell you that the camera itself is the most irrelevant part of making good images. Lighting, composition and a lots of real world experience make great photos. The expensive gear is just a set of tools that helps us bring a creative vision to reality.
