Flickr Photostream Friday: Danielle_T
Ello, Guvnah! This week’s Photostream is from a photographer and graphic artist from across the pond in England. Danielle Tunstall Doesn’t like pretty. Pretty is Boring. She uses ordinary people as models and transforms them into other beings. Sometimes they’re zombies, sometimes they’re vampires, but they’re always engaging. Danielle uses a plain white or black background to isolate and place more emphasis on her surreal subjects. The make up work is fantastic and the post production is always complementary. Her work echoes the influence of many famous artists including Bansky and perhaps even a little H.R. Geiger. Guns, Gas masks and blood are popular themes throughout her work, and she does an excellent job of often marrying them with gentle opposites; A little Girl, an innocent physiognomy, the color pink. Danielle admittedly shot only landscapes as a kid, but later because passionate about portraiture. Danielle’s artwork should be an inspiration to all photographers to see and shoot outside the box.
